A vacationers guide to deep

When setting up a Deep Sea fishing trip off the Florida Coast there are a few things you need to know and do to get started. First, you need to locate a Charter company who will take you to a spot they think the fish are so you can have a successful and fun trip. Each Charter has different rates depending on the duration of the trip. Most have full day trips being as they want to give you the best chances of catching a great fish. Some companies can take out smaller groups resulting in more personalized assistance and usually a better experience. Also the smaller boats are some times cheaper but not always as they can vary due the actually boat itself. The nicer, newer, faster and more technologically advanced charters will usually run more than the older, slower less modern boats. One thing not to look past though is the companies credentials. The company you choose should be a registered charter company and have boating insurance long with all the necessary licenses. So to make the final decision on your charter of choice, go for the ones who have all the right credentials, and the ones that have the better set-up for your goals. If you want to be able to have the best chance of catching fish, the faster and newer boats will be able to provide this. But if you are looking for those old classic charter companies with the old reputation of knowing the fish you can go for the less modern and older charters. Remember it is these peoples jobs to catch fish so they have to have great knowledge of where, when and how the fish they target feed and how to catch them. Any charter can be better than any other at any given time because it all depends on who catches fish and everyone gets skunked some days. Just remember to bring your wallet because no matter which company you choose, it will be expensive but well worth it. When you find a charter, it is important to show up extra early in order to beat the crowd and settle in. I know firsthand how bad it is to show up just as the boat is leaving and it is not something you want to experience. All Charters provide the necessary equipment to catch the fish of a lifetime so all you need to bring is a cooler of beverages and snacks. Trust me, the fish you are after live a ways from civilization. The possible fish you can catch are: Sharks, Marlins, Wahoo, Sailfish, Tunafish, Swordfish, Kingfish, Tarpon, Snapper, Dolphin (aka Mahi Mahi) and Groupers. All fun to catch, the largest and most thrilling fish to land are the Sharks, Wahoo, Marlins, Tunafish, Swordfish and sometimes Groupers depending on their size. Once you hook into that giant 600 lb. Marlin, the crew of the Charter will be standing by to assist you in landing the fish; so don’t worry, you will not be dragged down into the deep. When all is said and done, you will leave the adventure with many things such as your hard earned Florida sunburn, great stories to tell your friends of how big the fish actually was and best of all a new addiction to the greatest sport of all time, fishing.
